Overview

Chandraprabha Tablet / Vati

Chandraprabha Vati is a premium herbo-mineral formulation primarily used as a Sarvaroga-Prashamani (healer of all diseases) with a special affinity for the Mutravaha Srotas (urinary tract) and Prameha (metabolic syndromes). It acts as a Rasayana (rejuvenative) and Balya (strength provider), effectively balancing all three Doshas. It is uniquely capable of clearing Kleda (excessive moisture/toxic wastes) from the body while simultaneously nourishing the Dhatus.

Common Name

Chandraprabha Bati, Chandraprabha Gulika, The "Moon-Glow" Tablet.

  • Vipaka: Katu (Pungent).
  • Karma: Lekhana (Scraping), Mutrala (Diuretic), Vrishya (Aphrodisiac), Rasayana (Rejuvenative), Kledahara (Removes moisture).
  • Dosha Effect: Tridoshashamaka (Balances Vata, Pitta, and Kapha).
  • Srotasa: Mutravaha, Shukravaha, Artavaha, Annavaha.

Samprapti Vighatana (Pathogenesis Breakage)

Chandraprabha Vati works by targeting Abhishyanda (obstruction due to excessive sliminess):

How Chandraprabha Breaks the Cycle

  • Kleda Shoshana: Shilajatu and Guggulu act as systemic sponges, absorbing excess Kleda (morbid secretions) that accumulate in the urinary and reproductive tracts.
  • Srotoshodhana: The combination of Ksharas (alkalis) and Tikshna herbs (like Chitraka) breaks down stagnated Kapha and Meda (fat) clogging the channels.
  • Vatanulomana: It corrects the movement of Apana Vayu, which is essential for the healthy excretion of urine, semen, and menstrual blood.
  • Dhatu Balya: Unlike simple diuretics, it provides strength to the kidneys and bladder (Vrikka-Bala-Vardhaka).

Indication-wise Mechanism of Action (MOA)

Mutrakrichra & Prameha (UTI, Dysuria, Diabetes)

Pathology: Inflammation and obstruction in the urinary tract or excessive excretion of nutrients in urine.

MOA: Shilajatu acts as a Basti-shodhaka (bladder cleanser). It reduces inflammation while the Lekhana property prevents the formation of stones or crystalline sediment.

Stri-Roga (Asrigdara/Menstrual Disorders)

Pathology: Vitiated Pitta and Rakta leading to heavy bleeding or Vata causing painful periods.

MOA: It regulates the Artavaha Srotas. Its cooling mineral components stabilize Rakta, while Guggulu treats localized pelvic congestion and inflammatory growths like cysts or fibroids.

Pandu & Kamala (Anemia & Jaundice)

Pathology: Weakness of Agni and Rakta vitiation.

MOA: Swarna Makshika Bhasma is a natural iron source that is easily assimilated due to the Deepana herbs (Trikatu, Chitraka) in the formula.

Pharmacodynamic Synergy

  • The Guggulu-Shilajatu Base: These are the "carriers" that reach the deepest tissues (Dhatugata). Shilajatu focuses on the urinary system, while Guggulu focuses on fat metabolism and inflammation.
  • Triphala + Trikatu: Ensures that the medicine is digested properly and doesn't create Ama, making it a "self-digesting" formulation.
  • Lavan & Kshara: These act as "penetration enhancers," ensuring the herbal alkaloids reach the intracellular level.

Clinical Utility for Doctors

  • Ideal Patient: Anyone with metabolic sluggishness, chronic fatigue, or urogenital complaints.
  • Ama vs Nirama: Can be used in both. The Katu-Tikta herbs handle Ama, while the Bhasmas and Shilajatu nourish Nirama tissues.

Anupana: *

  •  Milk: For strength and Vrishya effect.
  • Lukewarm Water: For fat loss and urinary clearing.
  • Ginger Water: For digestive issues.
  • Dosage: 1–2 tablets (250mg–500mg) twice daily.

Safety & Rational Prescribing

  • Precautions: Because it contains Shilajatu, patients should avoid heavy meals, Kultha (horse gram), and excessive sun exposure during high-dose therapy.
  • Pregnancy: Generally avoided in the first trimester due to the presence of Lekhana herbs like Danti and Trivrit.
  • Pitta Aggravation: Usually well-tolerated, but in cases of extreme Amla-pitta, monitor for any increased heat.
