Overview
Suddh Shilajit Tablet/ Vatti
Shuddha Shilajatu is a premier Maharasa and arguably the most potent Rasayana (Rejuvenative) in the Ayurvedic pharmacopeia. The purification process described (using Triphala Kwatha) is essential to remove physical impurities like stones/sand and chemical toxins like heavy metals or excess minerals. The end result is a highly bioavailable, mineral-rich compound that acts as a Sarva-Roga-Hara (destroyer of all diseases) and a catalyst for other medicines.

Dravya Guna Analysis (Pharmacological Profile)
- Rasa: Katu (Pungent), Tikta (Bitter), Kashaya (Astringent).
- Guna: Laghu (Light), Ruksha (Dry).
- Virya: Ushna (Hot).
- Vipaka: Katu (Pungent).
- Karma: Rasayana (Rejuvenative), Vajikarana (Aphrodisiac), Chedana (Clearing), Lekhana (Scraping), Yogavahi (Carrier).
- Dosha Effect: Kapha-Vata Shamaka (can be Pitta-Vardhaka if used excessively).
- Dhatu Impact: Penetrates all seven Dhatus, especially Medas (Fat), Asthi (Bone), and Shukra (Reproductive).
- Srotasa: Specifically targets Mutravaha (Urinary) and Raktavaha Srotas.
Samprapti Vighatana (Pathogenesis Breakage)
The purification process with Triphala is crucial for Samprapti Vighatana because raw Shilajatu is often heavy and "clogging."
- Agni State: Raw Shilajatu requires strong Dhatvagni to digest. Triphala processing makes it "pre-digested" (Laghu).
- Srotorodha: Shilajatu is known for its ability to "scrape" (Lekhana) stagnant Kapha and Meda from the micro-channels.
How Shilajit Tablet Breaks The Cycle:
- (Solubilization): Soaking in Triphala water breaks down the complex mineral matrix.
- (Purification): Boiling and decanting separates the Satva (active essence) from the Mala (physical impurities).
- (Potentiation): The interaction with Triphala adds Chakshushya and Anulomana properties, reducing the overall heating effect of the mineral.
Indication-wise Mechanism of Action (MOA)
Prameha (Diabetes Mellitus/Urinary Disorders)
Pathology: Excess Kleda (moisture) and Kapha obstructing the urinary channels.
MOA: Shilajatu is the Agrayia (foremost) drug for Prameha. It acts by drying up the excess Kleda via its Kashaya rasa and improving the insulin-like activity at the cellular level.
Sthaulya (Obesity/Hyperlipidemia)
Pathology: Accumulation of Abaddha Medas (unbound fat).
MOA: Its Lekhana (scraping) property clears cholesterol and adipose tissue from the Srotas, effectively acting as a metabolic stimulant.
Klaibya & Shukra-Dosha (Infertility)
Pathology: Weakness of Shukra Dhatu due to Vata or Kapha obstruction.
MOA: As a Vajikarana, it provides essential trace minerals (Fulvic acid) that enhance mitochondrial function in the sperm and improve testosterone levels.
Pharmacodynamic Synergy (Yogavahi & Formulation Intelligence)
- Yogavahi Property: Shilajatu is unique because it carries the properties of any herb it is mixed with deep into the tissues.
- Formulation Logic: The image describes boiling until "Rabri-like" (thick paste) consistency. This concentration increases the density of Fulvic and Humic acids, which act as organic carriers for minerals into the cells.
- Triphala Synergy: Triphala acts as a Sodhana agent for the Mutravaha Srotas, complementing Shilajatu’s affinity for the kidneys.
Clinical Utility for Doctors
- Ideal Patient: Patients with Prameha, chronic fatigue, or those needing Dhatu-Pusthi after a chronic illness.
- Stage of Disease: Excellent for chronic, degenerative stages (Kshaya).
- Ama vs Nirama: Should be used only after clearing gross Ama from the Kostha.
Anupana :
- Milk: For Vajikarana and Brimhana (weight gain).
- Honey: For Lekhana and Prameha (weight loss).
- Triphala Water: For skin diseases and eye health.
Safety & Rational Prescribing
- Contraindications: Avoid in cases of high Pitta (gastritis, excessive heat), kidney stones (uric acid type), or very hot weather without cooling Anupana.
- Drug-Diet Interaction: Strictly avoid Kulattha (Horsegram) and heavy, sour foods while taking Shilajatu, as they are Viruddha (incompatible) and can cause stones or skin issues.
- Dose Titration: Start with a "pea-sized" amount (approx. 250mg) and increase based on Agni-Bala.
